The Quarry Innovation Center is entering an important new phase of public review, and Orchard Partners has shared a new community letter outlining where the project stands, how it has evolved and what Brisbane residents can expect in the months ahead.
The project before the community today is different from the proposal originally presented in 2024. The revised proposal reflects ongoing environmental review as well as feedback from Brisbane residents, City officials, environmental organizations, businesses, labor representatives and other stakeholders.
As outlined in the letter, the City has issued a Revised Notice of Preparation for an Environmental Impact Report for the project. The revised Quarry Innovation Center is proposed as an approximately 895,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing/light-fabrication development with supporting parking, infrastructure and dedicated electrical facilities. The project does not include a data center, and the proposed zoning regulations do not allow one.
The next phase will examine important community questions—including traffic and truck activity, habitat protection, grading, visual impacts, noise, air quality, utilities and infrastructure—as part of the public environmental review process.
The letter also provides an update on several longer-term commitments under discussion, including conservation and open-space protections, reclamation and restoration of the quarry property, management of geologic hazards, and the transition of quarry operations toward permanent closure if the project is ultimately approved and developed.
There is still work to do and important questions to answer. Orchard Partners remains committed to participating in an open process, listening to community input and providing additional information as the environmental review and other public proceedings move forward.
